In the initial stages of pharmacy education in the country, the pharmacists qualified from other states were appointed into the government services of the state. The first generation pharmacists of state felt the need of pharmacy education in this region of the country and started Government of college of pharmacy (GCP), at Bangalore under the Drugs control department in the year 1964.

Government of college of pharmacy was offering only D. Pharm. and B. Pharm courses. Later on M.Pharm. course was introduced. Now the institution is offering D.Pharm. (60 seat intake), B.Pharm (50 seat intake) and PG courses in four specializations namely M.Pharm. (Pharmaceutics with 08 seats intake), M. Pharm (pharmacognosy with 08 seats intake), M. Pharm (pharmacology with 08 seats intake) and M.Pharm (pharmachemistry with 08 seats intake). more...
